Explore The Area

Over the past three years, we’ve loved exploring Chichester and the surrounding area, so if you want to make a weekend of it, here’s some of our favourite things to do!

West Wittering Beach: The spot of our first ‘I love you’ and just a short drive from Chichester, West Wittering Beach offers the perfect spot for a gentle Sunday stroll to blow away the cobwebs from the previous night’s celebrations.

Kingley Vale: James’ favourite place in the entire world and the place where he popped the question, Kingley Vale is another great spot for a more strenuous walk up through the ancient yew forest to the Devil’s Humps for fantastic views over Chichester and coast to the south, and the South Downs to the north.

Chichester: In the city itself, we recommend walking the old walls and through the Bishop’s Palace Gardens before visiting the stunning Chichester Cathedral and Pallant House Gallery.

Weald & Downland Living Museum: The location for BBC’s ‘The Repair Shop’, the Weald & Downland recreates rural Sussex life from past centuries, and is well worth a visit on your way home.

South Downs National Park: Over the past three years, we’ve hiked most routes in the South Downs National Park – our favourites include the Trundle, with fabulous views over Goodwood racecourse and Bignor Hill (though the drive up to the car park is a bit hair-raising…)
